Pet Massage Plus was founded in 2021 in Chicago, IL and has since been dedicated toward the betterment of animal lives. PMP is owned & operated by Founder, Shelby, an NBCAAM-certified animal massage therapist and Educational Instructor of Canine Massage at Canis Bodyworks (Chicago).
“Hi there! I’m Shelby, Founder of Pet Massage Plus.
After working corporate for 6 years, I wanted to find a career that would give back to those who have always been a beacon of love and support in my life: Animals.
Originally, I started this training as a means to help my own aging pup and to help rescue animals in need of therapeutic support. I soon realized the great emotional rewards that came from helping those in this work and I was determined to bring those benefits to any and all animals that I could reach. Thus, Pet Massage Plus was born. Ever since, my aim has been to support the health & welfare of animals in Chicago & the Chicagoland area. This world has a lot to learn from animals & I want to help be their voice, promoting healing of their bodies, hearts, & minds."
Our Approach
PMP offers therapeutic animal massage & bodywork to your fur family. I am a firm believer that all animals should be cherished and treated with dignity, regardless of breed, age, or species. Therefore, we accept pets of all shapes, sizes, personalities, & backgrounds. Please, give a call to understand how I can work with your animal companion(s).
When meeting with a client, I always listen to them to ensure they are the ones to give me permission to start the session. I never force an animal into a situation in which they are uncomfortable. Massage is a holistic, therapeutic modality, wherein each client is treated professionally with actionable wellness goals in mind. Effective sessions are comprised of background intake, physical assessment, massage session actions, and follow-up to provide a comprehensive wellness plan for your beloved companions. Each and every pet client chooses to give consent when they are ready to enact the session, to ensure we build the needed trust so they get the most benefit from my massage techniques.
As a service, I provide benefits for conditions relating to orthopedic, neurological, post-surgical, agility & sports training, emotional, end-of-life care cases, etc. I am extensively trained in therapeutic techniques for myofascial trigger point therapy, orthopedic friction, scar tissue therapy, manual lymphatic drainage, joint mobility, sport & agility enhancement, chronic pain management, and knowledge of oncology or hospice care situations.
